About Michels Plumbing

Joe Michels started his plumbing career in 1974 working for Done Rite Plumbing in La Grange, Illinois. He worked for Done Rite for six years, finishing his apprenticeship and receiving his Illinois plumber’s license.

In 1980 Joe left Done Rite to start his own business in Aurora, Illinois. Michels Plumbing was incorporated later that year. He started small, working out of a rented basement. In 1984 Joe bought the old gas station on the corner of Gale and Woodlawn and converted it into the Michels Plumbing shop. The next year he hired his first apprentice plumber. In 1992 we remodeled the shop, and in 2008 we completed an addition doubling our size.

Today we have five plumbers working here at Michels Plumbing. Joe’s sons, Matt and Andy, are both licensed plumbers and are now running the business.
